This is "Robbie" an adorable mini Australian Shepherd. He is a new baby for a family that has part of the Bagnell "family" for a long time.

Australian Shepherds along with a few other breeds can have a mutant gene that can cause toxicity when certain medications are given. It prevents them from being able to absorb, distribute and metabolize the drugs. There is a known list of medications that may be a concern as well as a DNA test that can determine if a specific dog may carry this gene. In veterinary medicine of today there are many alternative medications to allow these dogs to lead a healthy life.
