MORE TICKS!!!!!!!

After 4 more ticks this week we need to bring this forward again. If you find a tick on your pet it should be removed within 24 hours. We are here to help but if you cannot get to us you can remove with the following method. Do not apply alcohol, a hot match or any caustic product - in fact this can make the tick latch on further. The mouthparts are buried in the skin and it is important to remove them. Using pointy tweezers, grasp the tick close to the skin and mouthparts- avoid squeezing any of the body. Pull firmly but slowly, straight up without twisting. Put the tick into a sealed container for us - we will want to identify it and possibly test it for the lyme bacteria. It is the deer tick that can carry this bacteria. This picture shows a tick buried into a dog's skin. Oh yes it is gross!
